A Garden Cannot Exist Without Us

International Festival of Gardens Chaumont-sur-Loire 2000

This summer long festival was as much about the garden being “a tool for ideas” as for public entertainment.

The centre piece of this garden is a large table, “a river of glass” at which visitors can sit, rest or strike up a conversation. The table is laid with a summer banquet. The food is as fresh as can be.

The table is engineered to be delicate and robust, tough enough to withstand the pressures of a public space.
